How do I get a quote?

You can get a quote in a few simple steps. You can either fill out our contact form or drop us an email at cainsmithdecs@outlook.com. Upon receiving your query/ email Ben will contact you to arrange a telephone consultation and then if you would like to still go ahead with a face-to-face quote. Please remember we only do free non-obligation quotes 50 miles from Boston Lincolnshire, once your work has been viewed a quote will be sent to you within 48 hours.

If we are within your budget, we will then arrange and discuss when works can commence.

Question 2

What's included in my quote?

Accepted Answer

We will provide you with a quote that includes the cost of labour and materials. Alternatively, if you already have the paint supplies, we can solely charge for labour costs, however we may discuss issuing you with a requited materials list – if you have our non-recommended suppliers paint, it does not just mean paint to complete a good Painting and Decorating works – none of our materials excluding dust sheets/ and other small relevant tools will be used – using your own paints and materials will mean that a disclaimer will be sent to you and be required to sign to confirm that you are proving all materials, and that works and standards will be to that of what is supplied

Question 3

What’s the availability of your Ben and when can he start?

We schedule out clients in a 2–3-month time slot, and ensure we estimate and have the correct days to prevent any rushed jobs – we would rather get it done right first time.

Do you carry insurance?

Yes, we have public liability insurance and a copy can be shown upon request.

Question 5

Which paints should I buy?

Accepted Answer

All paints consist of different substance, which includes solvent, pigment and binder.

When the paint dries, the solvent disperses, and the pigment and binder remain. The remaining pigment and binder are known as the paint’s solids content. The higher the paint’s solids content, the better it covers and protects.

Using cheaper paints have lower solids content, which will require you to use and need more coats of paint to get an equal coverage, which then adds time, as you need to allow drying before applying another coat – which means a Decorator can be standing around literally “waiting for paint to dry” & will lead to more tins of paint will be required, resulting in a higher cost.
Hence why we don’t use cheap paints for our decorating work. Instead, we recommend paints from the following brands: (Which are all trade)

·        Crown
·        Dulux

Can you help me choose paint colours?

We would love to assist with colours! Benjamin has 16 years’ experience & is 3rd Generation – and he use to watch his Nan as a kid picking out colours with customers in their old family shop in Askern – Benjamin loves getting creative and opening your room and allowing your space to speak, he would be more than happy to provide free advice. We can also provide paint samples for your property for a fee – which will be added onto your bill, we will also use and help ways of cutting costs down with speaking with our suppliers to ensure the best possible rates are given.

How do you know when to paint your home?

Benjamin can also guide you on elements of when time is due for a repaint – but we mainly know – when we want to make somewhere more for us – if a colour has been on 5- 10 years depending on paint pervious used or any element damage – sun, water etc. 
Bubbling
Wallpaper lifting 
Cracking 
Shadow areas – these areas are cause with just time and air flow – and so there maybe or signs of shows in corner or areas of the room

If addition if you are selling or moving in – you may just want to see or know what is underneath – and so we can help you with that.

Question 8

When should I do the work for the exterior?

Exterior is harder to judge – because it depends on the type of your property, as ever property is different and has different histories and surfaces. The mains signs are again
Cracking 
Bubbling areas – peeling 
Fading – discolour 
Shrinking 
Property curb – or appeal is lacking and needing attending.

Could there be time delay?

In an ideal world we would love to come to every property and take off that wallpaper or put that paint on and “wow” magic happens, but sometimes that is not the case.

Time delay can be a massive factor and a wall can tell a 1000’s stories. Just image putting every single item of clothing you own on – and wondering what is underneath – well a room can be like that -layered. We have had new builds – look nice and fresh – and put the roller on the wall or ceiling and the paint has not suck and comes straight off., the main factor of this is materials pervious used – and lack of experience and knowledge – therefore we do face to face quotes – because of Benjamin experience and learning from his Granddad – he saw how a wall can hide very many gems. Benjamin will also be up front and transparent in any of his findings to ensure you and him are on the same page when it comes to your property.

When in the year is it a good time to paint?

Exterior of course is always summertime; interior depends on air flow – again elements are a massive factor when it comes to the paint allocation times of drying – some may take a few hours – others can take days – we utilize our time effective.

Question 11

Will my house be upside down?

Accepted Answer

We must be honest here when it comes to any works – a house and home will have to adjust for these works to take place, but we will ensure that communication and respect for you and your dwellings is also meet to the best of our ability. We will of course let you know which areas are not available due to paint drying – we also know you what the works done and finished so you can see the result – and so working together ensures that is done. We do recommended on our general disclaimer that rooms are cleared and furniture, if placed away from working areas and in the middle – pictures are taken down and place somewhere safe – we will protect all areas as best as we can – however we again do express that yourself take responsibility for moving items away from a working area – this then prevents time delays or start times, we of course would be and are willing to assist in whatever way we can – if you are not able to move certain items.
